My name is Irina. I am a registered dietitian-nutritionist (RDN). But wait, don’t let that scare you away. I don’t sit and count every single calorie in my food, I don’t banish any food group from my list just because of the present trends and theories. Instead, I love to transform and pair foods to create delicious and healthy meals.
For me, cooking and eating healthy and delicious meals is a way of life – I enjoy it immensely! My outlook on life? As Julia Child said: “The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.” Food is an integral part of life – it brings gratification and enjoyment, but it can also cause physical and mental imbalance.
I know what it is like to be overweight and to feel that food is your worst enemy. I followed a few diets myself. In the beginning the results seemed to be wonderful – lose weight quickly and feel great. Unfortunately, those results didn’t hold for a long while. Every single diet fails in the end because its’ only goal is to allow people lose weight quickly. None of them will give the skills on how to maintain achieved weight loss by making healthy food choices. None of them teach what and how to eat once the diet is over.
My goal? To help people regain and/ or maintain their health while continuing to enjoy delicious and healthy meals. No diets, no calorie counting and no food-deprivation required. Let this blog help you to rediscover the joy and pleasure of eating with delicious recipes and practical nutritional advice.
Most meals on this site are prepared from scratch with fresh and in-season produce. I do know that what we put in our bodies powerfully influences our health and well-being. I also do believe that eating healthy without small occasional indulgencies will be boring and impossible to maintain.
